How the mid-parental method works

Add both parents’ heights in cm, then add 13 cm for a boy or subtract 13 cm for a girl, and divide by two. Most children end up within about ±8.5 cm of that figure — so we show a range, not just one number.

What affects a child’s final height

Genetics is the biggest factor, but nutrition, sleep, general health and puberty timing all play a part. This is an estimate for healthy children — it can’t account for medical conditions that affect growth.
